Special Awards
Tenacity Award ($500): Middle East Technical University | ANATEK (Türkiye)
The Tenacity Award recognizes perseverance and determination in the face of extraordinary adversity. After traveling internationally to SUAS, this team's UAV was confiscated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the airport. Rather than withdraw, they started over, rebuilding their UAS from scratch here in Tulsa and ultimately passing safety inspection.
Safety Award ($500): California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (USA)
The Safety Award recognizes a team that demonstrates a strong commitment to safe operations throughout the competition. This team stood out from the start, moving smoothly through safety inspection with a well-organized system and a team that was prepared and ready to operate safely.
Sportsmanship Award ($500): ASELSAN Vocational and Technical High School (Türkiye)
The Sportsmanship Award recognizes the generosity and community that make SUAS more than a competition. Throughout the week, this team repeatedly stepped up when other teams needed help. They shared technical expertise, electronics, motors, spare parts and even critical equipment that helped another team pass safety and remain in the competition. Again and again, their fellow competitors noticed.
Most Innovative Award ($500): Istanbul Technical University | ITU CEZERI (Türkiye)
The Most Innovative Award recognizes a technical approach that captures the attention of the SUAS community. This year, one design did exactly that. This team's VTOL transition design was recognized for its creativity and engineering approach.
